Stargate SG-1: Jack/Daniel.

So I’ve been reading Jack/Daniel fic for a while now but the thought of trying to rec it was so overwhelming that I never did. This is officially my first Jack/Daniel rec. It pushed so many buttons for me it’s not even funny. Hell I’m pretty sure it created some of them from scratch. This is so, so smutty and so, so hot. Intense and just — guh. Seriously. Very, very guh.

Stargate Atlantis/Stargate SG-1 crossover: Sheppard/McKay, implied Rodney/Jonas history.

I pretty much always love Lilly’s writing and this is no exception. Fabulous characterization, her possessive John is totally, totally hot. Plus, I’m a total sucker for SGA writers who bring the SG-1 history to their stories. Seriously people, there’s 8 whole years of stargate exploration just waiting to be hinted at in your stories!

Lovely, lovely story about John and his kamikaze tendencies and the ancients and their creepy science tendencies.

Filed under: 5.000-10.000 words, nc-17, slash, stargate atlantis — theantimodel @ 7:29 pm

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

It’s got to be a law of the universe that Chelle gives great porn. This story just continues to prove the rule. Really, really hot first time fic. Fantastic build-up.

Verisimilitude

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

This is fabulous, lengthy enough to do this type of story justice. A very good take on the aliens make them do it genre, serious and hot and gorgeously played out.

Foolproof and Incapable of Error

edges by neery; 6.900 words

Filed under: 5.000-10.000 words, nc-17, slash, stargate atlantis — theantimodel @ 7:26 pm

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

BDSM, knifeplay, kink. Gorgeous and intense, it’s hard for me to picture John and Rodney getting into heavier kink but Neery nailed this in a way that made me buy it completely.

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

Sequel to Ami’s Close Encounters. Rodney has to fight for John’s honor and it’s just — fabulous in all of the ways that I’ve come to expect from Jenn.

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay/Atlantis.

This is a short, but hot story revolving around the control chair and Sheppard’s unusually strong ATA gene.

Filed under: 5.000-10.000 words, house md, nc-17, slash — theantimodel @ 2:20 pm

House MD: House/Wilson

House/Wilson. I don’t read a lot of House fic but I’m always happy with the stories I have read. This is a really good buildup and the story just feels right.

The Manly Art of Home Repair

pathogenesis and intervention by shallot; 6.328 words

Filed under: 5.000-10.000 words, house md, nc-17, slash — theantimodel @ 2:18 pm

House MD: House/Wilson

Shallot is one of those writers who writes in a lot of fandoms and characterized every single one perfectly. She’s definitely grown over the years but even her first stories were brilliant and her newest, including those in the House MD genre, are spectacular.

Pathogenesis and Intervention

all the effects of intoxication by otter; 3.024 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, house md, pg-13, slash — theantimodel @ 2:16 pm

House MD: House/Wilson

I really love this tv show, and I like the idea of fic because the show is so slashy, but I’ve only sort of dabbled in the fic reading aspect, partially because I think these characters are all so defined that like The West Wing, it’s often hard to find good fic. This story is one of those good ones though.

All the Effects of Intoxication

untitled apocafic series by anya; 4.498 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, r, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:13 pm

The West Wing: Josh/Donna

I’m not big on the het, but I wanted to branch out when I got called up for crack_van duties. And well, every fandom needs an apocalypse story or two (or ten!) So when I saw this one I decided to take a chance. And it was well worth it. Coming from popfandom, which has possibly the largest selection of brilliantly worked AUs of every variety, I’ve always enjoyed a good AU. And this story certainly provided it. The writing is sparse, but in a world overtaken by an apocalyptic plague, it works perfectly.

Apocafic series

settling in by michelle k; 596 words

Filed under: 1-2.500 words, pg-13, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:11 pm

The West Wing: Josh/Will

This one is pretty short, but it’s definitely worth reading. In a fandom where the canon character’s voices are so distinct, and thus, harder for authors to capture, Michelle K. does a great job with them. As the title implies the story is about Will settling into his place in the West Wing, and the way this author writes, it feels like it could have actually taken place, between one show or another.

five stories never filed by danny concannon by julian lee; 4.903 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, pg-13, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:09 pm

The West Wing: Danny/CJ, Danny/Josh.

I have to admit I’m a sucker for these stories. They’re an interesting challenge, 5 AUs in one go, and this story is no exception. Julian Lee has a really solid grasp on Danny’s character, and it’s really nice to see him fleshed out a bit more. Make sure to read the subject lines of each part because they really tie the stories together.

Filed under: 1-2.500 words, gen, pg-13, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:07 pm

The West Wing: gen, Leo-centric

Spoilers for Season 6, Episode 2: The Birnam Woods This episode killed me a little bit. Leo has always been at the heart of the West Wing, whether we saw it or not, and well, I guess I feel like this is how the episode should have been shot. (Or maybe I just think that this is what happened and we didn’t get to see it.) It’s hard for me to explain this story actually. It’s brilliant, and absolutely heartbreaking. Seriously, it gave me shivers.

The Things You’l Never Say

live free or die by jj taylor; 2.407 words

The West Wing: Josh/Matt Santos

Spoilers for mid season 6! This is set during the campaign, and it’s beautifully detailed in all the right ways. The author gives voice to Josh incredibly well. And the story is about Josh coming to grips with the important things, and dealing with his decision to stand by Matt Santos during the frustrating parts of the campaign as well as the parts he knew he was signing up for.

Live Free or Die

free nights and weekends by amatia; 536 words

Filed under: 1-2.500 words, pg, slash — theantimodel @ 2:05 pm

The West Wing: Josh/Sam

I generally like longer stories than shorter ones. This particular story is a stellar exeption to the rule. It’s fairly short but perfectly moody and atmospheric. Stories like this are fantastic because every word in them serves a purpose. I love Sam, and I was sad to see him go. Without getting too meta on you all, I think in a lot of ways Sam’s leaving the show signified an end to the first stage of the show. This is a great story because it deals with that situation in a way that the show never did.

Free Night and Weekends

time and the fates of man by marguerite; 9.967 words

Filed under: 5.000-10.000 words, gen, pg, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:03 pm

The West Wing: gen

This series is really good. Spoilers for the first two episodes of Season 2 In the Shadow of the Gunmen 1 &2 it’s a gen story, no pairing but the characterization is good and she’s added a lot of interesting depth to the events post-shooting.

Pretty good, but I don’t feel like they really nailed Josh and Sam’s voices. Never the less it’s worth a read.

Boys of Summer

The West Wing: Josh/Sam

Good writing, a short Sam/Josh creation myth story.

the thinner the skin by jane st. claire; 2.175 words

Filed under: 1-2.500 words, pg-13, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 1:55 pm

The West Wing: Josh/Sam

Pretty short, a little schmoopy, interesting take on Josh and Sam’s history pre-west wing.

The Thinner the Skin

untitled trilogy by andrealyn; 43.421 words

Filed under: 20.000-50.000 words, r, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 3:17 am

The West Wing: Sam/Josh

This story, or series of stories is really charming. Andrealyn has real talent for dialogue and she balances it by detailing the fast-paced world of the West Wing perfectly. The series is long an plotty and each section story is told from a different point of view: first Josh, then Donna, and lastly, Sam.

Filed under: 10.000-20.000 words, r, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 3:12 am

The West Wing: Sam/Josh

Fascinating Josh/Sam perspective. I really like these two incarnations of the guys, they’re interesting and confused and I like that we get to watch them take this whole journey of figuring things out.

Bodies In Motion

The West Wing: Sam/Josh

This won 3rd place in 2001 for Outstanding Josh/Sam in The Jeds West Wing awards. While I’ve got some issues with it, I do like the story. It’s first person pov (Josh’s), but Jori has created so much create background for her Josh and Sam that I can’t help but like it.

Indscretions

Filed under: 20.000-50.000 words, pg, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 3:09 am

The West Wing: Sam/Josh

This is good, it’s long it has a politically driven plot and a good amount of angst and confusion. It also has some Josh/Amy and even less Sam/Ainsley so if the het really scares you then stay away.
