untitled apocafic series by anya; 4.498 words

The West Wing: Josh/Donna

I’m not big on the het, but I wanted to branch out when I got called up for crack_van duties. And well, every fandom needs an apocalypse story or two (or ten!) So when I saw this one I decided to take a chance. And it was well worth it. Coming from popfandom, which has possibly the largest selection of brilliantly worked AUs of every variety, I’ve always enjoyed a good AU. And this story certainly provided it. The writing is sparse, but in a world overtaken by an apocalyptic plague, it works perfectly.

Apocafic series

five stories never filed by danny concannon by julian lee; 4.903 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, pg-13, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:09 pm

The West Wing: Danny/CJ, Danny/Josh.

I have to admit I’m a sucker for these stories. They’re an interesting challenge, 5 AUs in one go, and this story is no exception. Julian Lee has a really solid grasp on Danny’s character, and it’s really nice to see him fleshed out a bit more. Make sure to read the subject lines of each part because they really tie the stories together.

you and me in a rowboat to rio by punk and sabine; 4.268 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, pg, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 2:00 pm

The West Wing: Josh/Sam

Wherin Sam takes Josh to Florida for vacation. First time fic, good but not particularly great.

The West Wing: Josh/Sam

Pretty good, but I don’t feel like they really nailed Josh and Sam’s voices. Never the less it’s worth a read.

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, pg-13, slash, the west wing — theantimodel @ 3:03 am

The West Wing: Sam/Josh

This is, I think, going to become one of those stories that I go back and reread when I need to read something that’s happy without being too sugary-sweet. The tension! I just wish it was longer, this one is good.

the pilot and the ancient gene by lillyjk; 4.100 words

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

Oh god, this is a perfect, perfect take on the fairy-tale idea. It’s an AU, obviously, but it’s still one in which the SGC exists. It’s really very cool.

The Pilot and the Ancient Gene

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

This is a neat fill-in-the-blanks story for the events leading up to The Seige and the Atlantis teams’ hunt for the 5 zpms. There’s a lot of really intuitive and interesting characterization. And some really intense sex, too.

Resonance

under the sea by shallot; 4.602 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, r, slash, stargate atlantis — theantimodel @ 12:26 am

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

Oh god this is a hysterically funny college AU where Rodney ends up tutoring John and his frat boy friends and there’s drunkenness and Rodney yells at people and John is adorable and just yes to everything because Shallot is truly fantastic.

Under the Sea

suddenly at last by yin again; 4.633 words

Filed under: 2.500-5.000 words, r, slash, stargate atlantis — theantimodel @ 12:23 am

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

John gets hurt on a mission but this story is about so much more than that too, and it’s well worth the read especially for lines like this: “Rodney? You’re being really nice to me. Am I dying?”

Mmmmm this is a nice first time fic, a little porny, a little funny, good blend.

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

I really like this story because it goes along with something I can defintely see happening between John and Rodney, it seems like they could fall into a buddy-fuck relationship pretty easily and that their problems would come afterwards, with them trying to deal when they start feeling more and don’t know how to move on. This story is about them taking that step and it’s good.

AU. Very, very AU. John is a preist and it’s–uh. Catholic preist porn should not be this incredibly good and sexy and just. Guh. Read it.

Another take on the aftermath of Trinity. This time with sex and a really believably socially retarded Rodney.

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

Hot, this is totally hot in that way where there’s sex but there’s also some honest meaning behind it. The best kind of pwp if you ask me.

And John knows Rodney isn’t perfect, but John has mapped every line with his eyes, traced every curve with his tongue, and Rodney’s body has welcomed him, fit with his in a way no one else’s ever has.

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

Post-Hive this story is patented Giddy Geek, there’s snark and fabulous characterization and I love Rodney a lot in this.

“Over the next twenty-five years, we could have sex 3900 times,” Rodney said, ignoring him, “if we averaged about four times a week, which I certainly could. In that same twenty five years, you’d come close to dying 45 times while I watched helplessly, if you continued averaging about 1.8 times a year, which you almost certainly will–and look how generous I’m being. I’m not even taking into account the number of times you could almost die while I fight to save you. I’m sorry, but in terms of risk assessment, those are just unacceptable numbers, Colonel.”

Stargate Atlantis: Sheppard/McKay

Sparked by this discussion about the character’s sexuality (spoilers for The Hive) the story takes the idea that John’s possibly more gay than Rodney and runs with it in a really good way.

“It’s just ironic,” John said, cutting him off. “For the first time in my life, it’d probably be really easy to land a threesome and–” I don’t want one, he was going to say, but at the mythical word threesome, Rodney’s eyes lit up like Christmas.

It annoys Rodney a great deal at first, because with every new second they spend together he’s begun thinking mine. It’s irrational and stupid. But seriously, mine he thinks more than often.

Mmmm totally hot and really, really good.

The sga_flashfic school challenge has been good to me. This is another they-met-before-atlantis story, Rodney’s a museum expert and John’s on a school trip to Canada. 4,700 fantastic words which only serve to make me fall just a little more in love with John and Rodney.

And this is how you wake up married.

This sort of reminds me of Shallot’s Oblivious because John’s clueless and Rondey isn’t. I have a lot of love for this sort of story.

I just love everything Shallot writes. And this one is especially cool because it’s John lusting after an unsuspecting and uninterested Rodney. A nice role-reversal of fannish conventions.

John and Rodney. Omg. SGA fandom produces the best crack. And they illustrate it too! Seriously. This is the awesomest. Rodney gets turned into a very small grumpy dinosaur and it’s hilariously cute.

Oh man. Even more _____ gets turned into an animal fic! Totally cracktastic and painfully cute, this time it’s John getting turned into a polar bear and Rodney having to deal with it. I love that so many SGA authors are embracing their potential for shoving the boys into insane and humorous situations.
